The EMEA commercial finance arm of US conglomerate General Electric currently uses a number of agencies, including Lansons Communications in the UK.
It is understood the firm has instigated a review of agency support with a view to unifying these accounts under a single agency with a presence across GE Capital’s core markets.
The firm restructured in Europe in 2009, combining previously separate businesses together under the GE Capital brand. Because of this process it inherited separate PR contracts across Europe.
Now the firm believes handing one agency responsibility for corporate comms and media relations across its business and geographic reach will help to unify the brand.
It is thought the pitch process is still in its early stages, with an RFI issued over the past couple of weeks. GE Capital declined to comment.
The firm currently operates in 14 key markets across Europe and requires representation in each of the jurisdictions as and when work arises, as well as a co-ordination role from London.
GE’s general operations in the UK include Technology Infrastructure, Energy Infrastructure and NBC Universal as well as GE Capital.
Eloqui PR holds a retained group-level UK brief, which remains unaffected.
GE Capital has more than 500,000 customers in the EMEA region, with projects including providing financing to iconic British motorbike firm Triumph and an $8bn commercial finance joint venture between GE and Mubadala, based in Abu Dhabi.
