Men’s lifestyle magazine FHM is to be published in Germany in a

joint venture between owner Emap and Attic Futura.

The move continues the aggressive internationalisation of the brand and

means FHM will now publish in ten countries outside the UK.

Attic Futura has been active in Germany since 1993, publishing Hit, a

version of teen title TV Hits. It also produces the German edition of

Sugar.

A local editorial team will produce FHM and the companies are aiming

initially for sales of 150,000.

Emap international MD Chris Llewellyn said there were negotiations with

several publishers. ’Attic Futura had a really good feel for FHM,’ he

said. Attic Futura MD Neil Raaschou said: ’We believe the market is

ready for a mainstream men’s title.’

FHM sells 700,000 copies in the UK and is published in markets including

the US, France, South Africa, Taiwan and Malaysia, all following the

same format.
