Software supplier Adobe has hired its first retained PR agency in

four years, Brighton-based new media agency Midnight Communications.

Midnight won the business following a competitive pitch against Lewis,

Harvard, and Communicating IT PR.

The account will see the agency work alongside an in-house team which

has handled press relations alone since 1996. The brief is to promote

Adobe’s digital media and web design software products to trade,

business and consumer media.

Senior consultant Antony Mayfield, said: ’They wanted an agency that

knew the web area and could run a campaign to raise the profile of the

company overall and its product.’

The agency will target anyone using web design tools at home or

work.

The move to recruit an agency comes at a time when there is convergence

in the new media world allowing a degree of platform independence for

content such as the company’s tools produce. The company wants to

capitalise on the opportunities this creates.

The team will be led by account head Claire Mason and will report to

Susanne Sturton, Adobe’s regional PR manager in northern Europe. The

agency already has other clients in the internet space such as VNUnet

and Jobsite.
