The second year’s results from the Institute of Public Relations

foundation and diploma courses are out - and they reveal that PR

students are getting smarter.

The number of students on both courses who gained distinctions has risen

since last year, the first year the courses were run.

Three diploma students gained distinctions this year, while ten managed

the same feat on the foundation course.

The IPR denied this was because standards had slipped. ’The examiners

are all external, and they thought standards had improved,’ said an IPR

spokeswoman.

Instead, the improvement in marks was attributed to a higher standard of

candidate, and the fact that those who undertake the course are keen to

get a professional qualification.
