Acquisition-hungry Weber buys Technology Solutions Inc

McCann-Erickson, has bought US hi-tech specialist Technology Solutions

Inc.



TSI is the third purchase McCann-Erickson has made since December, when

it bought hi-tech specialist Weber Group. Investor relations specialist,

The Ludgate Group, was bought in February. Larry Weber, chairman and CEO

said: ’With TSI and the Weber Group, Weber PR Worldwide now offers the

services and expertise of two leading technology PR organisations.’



TSI was set up in 1983 by Brian Cohen and Carol Suchman and has offices

in New York, San Jose and Boston. Cohen, chairman and CEO of TSI, will

act as executive vice-president and chairman of global technology

accounts.



The agency currently has 130 employees. Cohen said that TSI would be

able to broaden its services and geographical reach as a result of being

bought by Weber.



TSI, which is predicting a fee income of around pounds 8 million for

1997, has 40 clients including IBM, Sony Electronics, Acclaim

Entertainment and Genesys Telecommunications.



Past projects handled by TSI include the publicity for the chess

tournament between IBM’s Deep Blue computer and world chess master Garry

Kasparov.



Weber PR Worldwide is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with offices in

New York, California, Hong Kong and throughout the UK.
