Hallelujah! Those readers waiting with bated breath for details of
the fledgling Association for Christians in Public Relations, wait no
more.
Some may remember that the ACPR’s birth was covered in these pages last
year (PR Week, 20 August, 1999). At that time, its prime objective was
yet to be set. Along with its slogan of ’Tidings of joy: peace and
goodwill to all men’ the ACPR’s main objective, the Diary can now
reveal, is prayer.
We can also tell you that a date for the first meeting has been set - 23
June.
Secretary Sally Davis, also founder of Portsmouth-based agency the PR
Department, says that the fledgling society has only signed up 18
members thus far - although they do cover the length and breadth of the
nation, and even extend as far as Versailles, France.
The ACPR might not yet rival the IPR in terms of membership support, or
offer such earthly aid as the IPR’s legal helpline, but for certain PR
practitioners a direct line to the ear of the big fella is probably
better value.
