Rainer Abbenseth has been appointed head of corporate affairs at
Esso Germany. He takes over from Rainer Haegermann, who is leaving the
post after just 16 months. Abbenseth will oversee publicity,
environmental protection and the economics departments. Abbenseth is a
doctor of physics with no media background. He has 21 years experience
with Esso and its parent company, Exxon Mobil. Before heading corporate
affairs, he spent three years in charge of economic planning.
