Voluntary Sector: The Week in Charities

The Institute of Fundraising has appointed Amanda McLean as CEO.

She was previously CEO of Prostate UK and before that was director of fundraising and comms at DebRA UK. McLean will take up her new position at the beginning of November.

3 Monkeys is working on a pro-bono brief for the International Primate Protection League. It will assist with the charity's new Save the Gibbon campaign to raise awareness and funds for gibbon conservation. Activity will include a new Save the Gibbon website and a new version of The Goodies' hit record Funky Gibbon.

APCO Worldwide provided comms support to the Clinton Global Initiative's (CGI) annual meeting in New York City last week. It helped CGI and more than 1,000 of its global members publicise the social and environmental impact of the group's wide-ranging projects.

Whizz-Kidz, the charity for disabled young people, has been chosen as Blue Peter's appeal charity for 2010/11. The Blue Peter Go Cardz appeal is asking children to make Christmas cards that will then be made available to purchase in selected Tesco superstores and Extra stores nationwide from 15 November.
