Electrical retailing giant Dixons has appointed Mario Dunn to the

new post of public affairs head.

Dunn will carry out a routine review of Dixons’ public affairs account

with its longstanding agency, GJW.

His remit covers UK and EU public affairs for all parts of the Dixons

group, which includes recently floated ISP Freeserve, electrical

retailer Currys, PC World and telephone chain The Link.

The range of policy issues Dunn will tackle spans e-commerce

legislation, credit card charges, the euro and the disposal of

electronic goods.

Reporting to corporate affairs director Lesley Smith, Dunn is

responsible for a two-strong team covering political and community

affairs.

Dixons’ public affairs were previously handled by Smith and public

affairs executive Phil Snape, who now reports to Dunn. Dunn joins from

Hill and Knowlton, where he was an account director in the public

affairs practice for two years.
