Planning lobbying specialist PPS, the UK’s fastest growing PR
agency over the last five years, has branched out into mainstream public
affairs with a second string agency.
PPS Public Affairs launches this month under MD Mark Pendlington, an
adviser to the Thatcher and Major governments and former Bell Pottinger
public affairs director.
Pendlington has a start-up team of four, several of whom he has poached
from rival consultancies. He is in talks with lobbying agencies in
Brussels and Washington DC to form affiliate relationships - PPS’ first
venture outside the UK.
The new agency aims to bring campaigning skills honed by PPS’ ten years
in planning consultancy to broader lobbying work, partly through new
technology modelled on the Washington DC public affairs scene.
The agency will start off by handling existing PPS clients, liaising
with PPS offices in Edinburgh, Manchester and Bristol. PPS will be
rebranded as PPS Local and Regional.
Pendlington said: ’Public affairs is so much more than press releases
and meeting top politicians. We will concentrate on building coalitions
and mobilising key stakeholders and third party support to influence
