Ogilvy PR Worldwide has acquired London-based specialist financial

and corporate agency Sector PR. The acquisition would boost Ogilvy four

places in PR Week’s 1999 Top 150 league, into the top 40 agencies, with

combined fees approaching pounds 3 million.

Under the terms of the deal, the Sector team will merge into Ogilvy’s

European corporate practice, with Sector managing director Julian

Goldsmith becoming managing director of the practice.

According to PR Week research, Sector PR has been one of the fastest

growing consultancies over the last five years, experiencing growth of

254 per cent.

The agency suffered a setback earlier this year when it lost Barclays’

high street arm as a client after six and a half years. Sector still

works for the corporate banking division of Barclays.

’Julian Goldsmith’s job will not be to manage directly but to develop

new clients,’ said Paul Philpotts, Ogilvy PR European president.
