BORDER LINES: WASHINGTON - O’Leary leaves Mobil for Bacardi

Drinks manufacturer Bacardi has appointed Robert O’Leary as vice-president of public affairs and communications. O’Leary is former general manager of global public affairs at Mobil and his departure follows the Exxon/Mobil merger. O’Leary said the main reason for the switch was his desire to avoid uprooting his family in the event of a transfer to Texas. At Mobil, O’Leary oversaw a global public affairs team with staff in Latin America, Asia and Europe, and handled internal and executive communications for Mobil during the Exxon merger.
