BORDER LINES: BANGKOK - Thai PR figurehead Pajasalmi dies

Esko K Pajasalmi, regarded by many as the founding father of Thailand’s PR industry, has died aged 71. Pajasalmi, a native of Finland who had lived in Thailand for almost 50 years, passed away last week. He founded Presko, Thailand’s first dedicated PR agency, in 1961 and ran it for 30 years until it was bought by Shandwick. Pajasalmi remained as chairman of Presko-Shandwick until last year when he travelled widely and took an advisory role at his son Norman’s PR company, Nine-East.
