Flack: Edelman's instigates company-wide commitment

Edelman's HR team has instigated a company-wide commitment to work/life balance, with particular aim being taken at well-known workaholic CEO Robert Phillips. He is under strict orders to stop sending emails to his staff over the weekend unless it's a client emergency. How long this can last is the subject of much water cooler discussion - reports are already coming in that certain unlucky Edelman employees are receiving about ten 'stored up' emails first thing on Monday morning ...

A few changes to working life are also affecting Unity's Nik Done, who is currently off on maternity leave along with fellow agency founders and friends Nick Porter from Iris and Miki Watson from Golden Goose. Done admitted that the three were these days more inclined to meet up for mothers' mornings than boozy evenings at The Ivy. She also reported that because of a mix-up, she had to perform a job interview this week while breast-feeding. 'Poor chap - that's a real test of character,' said Done. 'He got the job.' ... The patter of tiny feet is also causing a few work/life issues for newly promoted London Communications Agency MD Jonny Popper. Son Daniel arrived in this world with impeccable timing right in the middle of Popper's first board meeting as MD last week. 'Quality timing and a sign of things to come,' foresaw LCA chairman Robert Gordon Clark.
