Comms staff on £100k list

Dozens of comms professionals feature in a list of public sector employees earning more than £100,000 a year, produced for the BBC's Panorama programme this week.

Ed Williams, BBC director of comms, was among the highest earners, with a salary of £225,940, while Matt Tee, permanent secretary for government comms, earns between £160,000 and £165,000 a year.

PRWeek identified 41 comms professionals on the list of 38,000 public sector employees. However, the full number is likely to be far higher, with many sectors and organisations withholding details.

David Holdstock, chair of LGcomms, called on government communicators to 'up our game' to justify high public sector incomes.
