Granada Media Interactive, the on-line advertising and sponsorship

arm of media group Granada, has hired Propeller Marketing and

Communications on a trade brief to promote its interactive web

sites.

Propeller managing director Martin Loat and account director Richard

Gill will head the account, reporting to GMI’s commercial and marketing

director Mark Brandon. Propeller was appointed without a competitive

pitch.

The account aims to raise GMI’s profile among advertisers.

GMI’s consumer PR will continue to be handled in-house, but Propeller

will represent sites including g-wizz.net, an internet service provider

featuring behind-the-scenes footage from Coronation Street and This

Morning with Richard and Judy.

The remit also covers sports sites such as ITV-F1.com, and a football

site is expected to launch within the contract’s six initial months.

Gill said the win marked a fresh emphasis on new media for Propeller,

adding that until now the agency had relied mainly on traditional media

clients such as the Cartoon Network and the Daily Telegraph advertising

sales department.
