Diary: New Shandwick MD Davidson saves client records from a watery death

Shandwick Welbeck newly appointed managing director Claire Davidson

has had a watery start to her new role.

Day one in her new job - she took up the reins just over two weeks ago -

saw her directing a team from the consultancy in the art of physical

crisis management as staff found the basement of the Shandwick building

submerged under several inches of water.

Located next door is exclusive women’s health club The Sanctuary, which

includes a swimming pool among its amenities - a pool which had

unfortunately started to leak.

The fire brigade were called but they could not estimate whether gallons

of water would flood through or whether there would be just a few drops

trickling over.

Davidson immediately dragged staff from the local pub and formed a human

chain.

The team managed to get all client records, accounts and past campaign

material out of the basement in less than one hour in case the whole

area flooded.

In the event, the fire brigade managed to stop the leak.

As Davidson was responsible for promoting the official Titanic movie

tour across Europe earlier this year, she was well prepared for this new

water-based drama.

She is also angling for free membership of The Sanctuary, which has

apologised profusely for the debacle.
