BORDER LINES: WARSAW - Polish treasury appoints Citigate

Citigate Westminster has won a competitive pitch to advise the Polish treasury on how to manage its state-owned industries. The agency has been briefed to conduct research on how governments in the UK, France, Germany, Austria and Italy have managed the transition from state ownership to other forms of ownership, such as partial privatisation. It will work on an initial five-month contract worth pounds 30,000 in fees, which is being funded by the European Commission’s Phare programme, dedicated to helping applicant countries prepare for entry to the European Union. The Polish government is currently in the middle of a widespread privatisation programme.
