This is the first time the site, which is one of a family of web-based
brands published by Internet Appointments, has appointed an external
agency on a retainer. There was no formal pitch.
Since the site was launched in 1994, the company has used its in-house
team and agencies on a project basis to run PR.
’We are upping our PR tempo and Miller/Shandwick impressed (us) because
they understood the internet,’ said Bryan Levine, finance and operations
director of Internet Appointments.
Heading a team of three and overseeing the account is director Nigel
Brown. ’We will be dealing with both business-related and consumer press
doing media relations in the areas of sales and marketing, graduates,
finance and banking and IT. We will also be helping with sponsorship and
promotions and community relations,’ he said.
Taps.com registers over 10,000 job hunters each day. Companies
advertising posts include the London Stock Exchange, the Army and mobile
phone operator Orange.
Internet Appointments is a privately owned company, with investors
including several large US, Europe and UK recruitment agencies.
According to Levine, one of the reasons for selecting Miller/Shandwick
is that it is part of a major full-service agency. In particular, he
highlighted the City focus within Shandwick. ’I am a firm believer in
the one-stop shop approach,’ he said.
