PUBLIC SECTOR: Salisbury appoints first marketing manager

Salisbury District Council has ended a three-month search for its first marketing and communications manager by hiring Carolyn Johannesen. She joined this week from telecommunications company Multitone, where she was marketing communications head. The council created the post (PR Week, 9 April) to give more emphasis to communications, upgrading the role of press officer which had been filled temporarily by Kate Westgarth. She is now leaving to live abroad. Johannesen’s brief is to develop a communications strategy and advise on the marketing and branding of the council. Reporting to the council’s head of policy Debbie Dixon, Johannesen is currently working alone, but may be joined by more staff in the future.
