International professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers

(PWC) has hired New York-based Porter Novelli International as its

global corporate communications agency for a fee of over pounds 1

million.

Jeremy Wyatt, PWC director of communications for EMEA, said: ’Porter

Novelli’s focus will be the global positioning of the brand, although it

will also support PWC business units, including technology,

entertainment and media.’

An intensive pitching process saw a team of key PWC in-house

communications staff debate the merits of 15 international agencies

before hearing presentations from six. In the third and final round

Porter Novelli pipped Hill and Knowlton to the work.

In the UK, the move will have no immediate affect on PWC agencies Bell

Pottinger, Citigate Dewe Rogerson, Fishburn Hedges, Text 100 and Key

Communications, but Porter Novelli will be in a strong position in any

review.
