Diary: A few wrinkles, but seventies night was a screaming success

Every PRO has a tale to tell about demanding clients but Reverb PR can probably top them all.

Every PRO has a tale to tell about demanding clients but Reverb PR

can probably top them all.

Reverb - which does not only PR, but also club promotion, DJing and has

its own fashion label - was promoting a club night for Paradise Garage,

the highly influential New York gay club.

As well as promoting the club night, Reverb was also responsible for

chaperoning a group of DJs and 30 original Paradise Garage clubbers.

Bearing in mind that the club’s heyday was in the late-1970s, the

average age of thevisiting attendees was 50. The guestlist included DJ

Danny Krivett and Mel Cherens, aged 67, who used to run the club.

According to Reverb partner Simon Warrington some of the more excessive

requests of the temperamental revellers included demands that the club

nights venue be painted black, complaining about British sandwiches and

almost causing a car accident.

But as well as knowing how to complain, the veterans also knew how to

party and after being the last to leave the Paradise Garage party

managed to do it all again the early hours the next night.
