Hopkinson has been brought on board as director, market access and external affairs in the UK. He will lead the 40-strong market access team, which incorporates PR and public affairs, national policy, government relations, health economics and outcomes strategy.

He will also manage the strategic and operational interfaces with the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, the NHS and the Department of Health.

He replaces Richard Marsh who left in December last year.

Hopkinson joins B-MS from GlaxoSmithKline, where he spent 14 years in various commercial roles.  In his most recent role as director, portfolio and partnership marketing in the UK company, he pioneered new ways of working with the NHS such as joint working.

Prior to GSK, Hopkinson worked as a consultant pharmacist in the NHS.

B-MS UK European vice president and general manager Frédéric Duchesne said: ‘Patrick will play a major role in helping to ensure optimal access for our portfolio of new products in a challenging and quickly evolving UK healthcare environment.’
