NEW YORK: Paul Hicks has taken over as managing director of Ogilvy

PR Worldwide’s New York office. He replaces Nancy Rueth, who has left

the company.

Hicks was previously global director of the agency’s corporate practice

for four years. He will report to Marcia Silverman, president of the

Americas.

Parts of the practice require a ’talent upgrade’, he said - although he

insisted that this meant recruiting people rather than firing them.

Hicks said his first few weeks will be taken up with a ’listening tour’

of the 185 Ogilvy staff in New York, followed by the creation of a

’blueprint’ for the rest of the year. He said that staff retention was

going to be a vital part of his work.

Hicks has a place on the group’s executive committee - effectively the

main board equivalent. The New York office has a turnover of pounds 12

million and handles marketing, crisis management, corporate reputation

and financial communications.
