Opinion: From our Readers - Go the extra mile if you want to work in PR

In order to get my foot in the door at my first agency I worked 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, for free in addition to nights and weekends at a paid job. My first day off in two months was Christmas day and I would have worked that too if it would have helped me get a role in the industry.

You really have to go to the limits to force yourself into this already overcrowded industry. Never mind whether you come from a privileged background or not, there is always a way if you really want to succeed.

Unfortunately, as in so many other disciplines, a lot of PR graduates still seem convinced that a degree translates into a job.
