DIARY: Totaljob gets petty and cashes in on its rivals

Oh those naughty people in the Totaljob.com PR department. Not content with registering on all their rivals websites and providing misleadingly approving feedback, (’Hey! Love your site - don’t change a thing’) the PROs have now started winning all the competitions.

Oh those naughty people in the Totaljob.com PR department. Not

content with registering on all their rivals websites and providing

misleadingly approving feedback, (’Hey! Love your site - don’t change a

thing’) the PROs have now started winning all the competitions.

’It is all part of a plan to exhaust our rivals’ marketing budgets’,

says Totaljob.com’s PR manager Sarah Parsons who has just picked up

prizes from two rivals. Parsons, who admits to having a fondness for

entering competitions, has just won a crate of champagne on the

BigBlueDog web site and a digital camera on the Jobstop web site.

On the former she entered a caption competition. For a pic of a dog she

came up with the not-so-snappy caption: ’Someone said if I went surfing

I would find a big blue dog’.

’I do feel quite smug’, she admits, ’but it is not a very good caption

is it? It does raise the question of how many people are actually

logging on to their sites.’

It also raises the question of whether the Totaljob PR crew could

possibly find more productive ways of filling their working day than

entering caption competitions.
