The public services watchdog is scheduled for closure in 2012, which will see 48 comms professionals lose their jobs, as previously reported in PRWeek.
Audit Commission managing director, communications and public reporting David Walker told PRWeek: ‘The comms function will be wound down in response to ongoing work. The volume of work will tend to head downwards after April 2011. In the mean time, we’re not replacing people who have left.’
Walker added that he had no firm plans for moving on but would consider either further comms jobs or a return to journalism.
Walker was formerly editor of 'Public', the Guardian's monthly magazine for senior public managers.
