Applied Comms is fastest grower

SAN FRANCISCO: Technology PR specialist Applied Communications has been named as the fastest organically growing PR agency in the world by the Council of Public Relations Firms.

SAN FRANCISCO: Technology PR specialist Applied Communications has

been named as the fastest organically growing PR agency in the world by

the Council of Public Relations Firms.



Applied’s fee income grew from pounds 2.6 million in 1998 to pounds 5.1

million in 1999, an increase of some 96 per cent, which outpaced all

other firms surveyed, apart from those grown by acquisition.



Most of Applied’s clients are internet businesses, including the top

five global search engine Altavista and X.com, the on-line payments

service provider.



The survey also showed that the number of hi-tech PR businesses

increased by 47 per cent.



The CPRF survey showed that Burson-Marsteller is the world’s largest PR

company with revenues of pounds 171,644,000 worldwide. The second

largest was Hill and Knowlton, with worldwide revenues of pounds

152,062,000 in 1999.



Shandwick, Porter Novelli and Fleishman-Hillard rounded off the top

five.
