The European Central Bank has published a shortlist of three in its
continued search for an agency to run the pan-European campaign
surrounding the introduction of the euro. The three agencies - Hill and
Knowlton, Publicis and Team Young and Rubicam/Burson Marsteller - have
been selected from the nine which made initial pitches following the
publication of a tender note in February (PR Week, 26 February). The
three will be asked to re-pitch in October, with an announcement
expected a month later. The successful agency will begin work shortly
after the announcement, with a view to running a campaign across the 11
countries in the euro zone and in countries including the US and Japan,
whose citizens are frequent visitors to Europe.
The euro is to be introduced on 1 January, 2002.
