EMI promotes Debra Geddes to senior director for artist publicity

EMI Music UK has created a new role of senior director for artist publicity, overseeing all of the company's artist publicity activities.

The music firm, whose artists include Lily Allen, Gorillaz and Snoop Dogg, has promoted Debra Geddes to the newly created role.
Geddes has worked in a variety of press positions at EMI since 1990, most recently as director of press for its Catalogue division, and with artists including Kraftwerk, Pink Floyd, Blondie, Dexys Midnight Runners, The Specials, Glen Campbell, Crowded House and MC Hammer.
In the new role, she will lead a team of publicists working across all EMI Music labels in the UK – Parlophone, Virgin and Catalogue – supported by newly appointed publicity directors William Luff and Phoebe Sinclair.
Janet Choudry, Paul Guimaraes and Scott Steele continue as senior publicists. In addition, Stuart Freeman has been promoted to senior online publicist.
Andria Vidler, president of EMI Music UK, said: 'Bringing together our artist publicity team under one senior director creates a strong and flexible team that will allow us and our artists to maximise the great publicity skills we have in-house and the opportunities of the rapidly changing media landscape.'
Artists on EMI labels include Lily Allen, The Beatles, Beastie Boys, Coldplay, Depeche Mode, Gorillaz, Massive Attack, Kylie Minogue, Katy Perry, Pink Floyd, Queen, Corinne Bailey Rae and Snoop Dogg.
