Like-for-like revenues for the group, whose PR agencies include Hill & Knowlton, Burson Marsteller and Cohn & Wolfe, were also up by 2% for the first six months of 2010.

Reporting operating margins improved 3.2 margin points to 14.8% as costs were brought into line, rising at a much slower rate than revenues.

Meanwhile, WPP as a whole has reported a 36% surge in profits for the first half of 2010 after a stronger than expected performance in the US and across traditional media.

A statement released by WPP this morning said the recovery of its advertising business reflected that ‘America and traditional media [are] biting back’.
