BRUSSELS: APCO Europe has reshaped its senior management team,
bringing in new staff and promoting a host of existing employees.
Mike Rumsby has stepped up from associate director in the Brussels
office to managing director. Rumsby, who has been with APCO for three
years, will now run the Brussels operation with two other members of a
senior management team.
The first is Eric Merkel-Sobotta, an APCO consultant who previously ran
public affairs at courier company UPS. Now running the agency’s Fed-Ex
account, Merkel-Sobotta has been promoted to director.
He is joined by Laurent Chokouale Datou, a new appointee who was a
senior director at rival European lobbying shop EPPA.
All three report to Brad Staples, the agency’s European chairman who
also heads the competition practice.

public affairs on the web at the same time as running traditional

managing director post for APCO Online reflects the agency’s attempts to
upgrade the importance of internet work to the same level as in its
Washington, DC office.
Strategic communications director Nick Andrews will now assume a
pan-European role developing that function across APCO’s offices in
London, Brussels, Paris, Rome, Moscow and Geneva.
