16 August Social media, in particular social networks, are a mental mess of 'big data'. Photos, text, links, videos, podcasts, FarmVille - our online lives have become busy.
When we originally signed up to the internet, we looked for people we already knew (from real life) and people we had shared interests with. Fine. I think this is how we create our own little internet - our network depicts exactly how we view the internet.

13 August Four days after one of the most epic on-the-job resignations, the Steven Slater Facebook page has grown to almost 200,000 supportive fans. The mainstream press has covered it, YouTube videos have been created to re-enact it and the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon show produced a song about it. But, surprisingly, JetBlue airlines, which is considered to be one of the most social media-savvy and customer-friendly companies, has been deftly silent.

With this news and that Facebook has offered instructions for creating Open Graph metadata, it seems a new breed of engine and SEO is emerging. The question is, how fast?
