Michael McManus will join next month as a director. McManus worked as a special adviser in three government departments in the 1990s, and from 1995 to 2000 was head of Heath's private office. More recently, he served as an adviser to Tory peer Lord Hunt.
BPPA chairman Peter Bingle said: 'I have been trying to persuade Michael to work for me for many years.'
The news comes as many Labour advisers are failing to get PR jobs because of 'unrealistic' salary demands.
