Classic FM now accounts for more than half of national commercial
radio listening, according to the latest Rajar figures. The three other
national stations - Virgin, TalkSport and Atlantic 252 - have 46.8 per
cent between them. Launched in 1992, Classic FM has added 230,000
listeners in the last year, reaching 6.2 million adults a week. Its
market share of 4.4 per cent is triple that of BBC’s classical music
channel, Radio 3.
