MEDIA BRIEFS: Classic FM marches ahead with listeners

Classic FM now accounts for more than half of national commercial radio listening, according to the latest Rajar figures. The three other national stations - Virgin, TalkSport and Atlantic 252 - have 46.8 per cent between them. Launched in 1992, Classic FM has added 230,000 listeners in the last year, reaching 6.2 million adults a week. Its market share of 4.4 per cent is triple that of BBC’s classical music channel, Radio 3.
