BRUNEI: The Brunei Government has called in Bulletin International
as part of a consortium to handle PR during the APEC leaders’
conference, which it will host in November.
Bulletin, which is headquartered in London, won the broadcast brief
after pulling ahead in a four-way pitch believed also to have included
Shandwick and Ogilvy PR.
Paul Lewis, regional managing director of Bulletin, said discussions
were at an early stage, but added: ’Our aim is two-fold. One is to
handle the hosting of the APEC summit and the other is to tell the story
of where they’re (the country) heading as an economy.’
Lewis will lead the account, which reports to the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs. He said Bulletin, which manages brands and reputations through
both on-line and broadcast media, was in discussions for the design and
content of a destination web site especially for the event, which would
fall under its remit.
Logipress, based in France, was appointed to handle print media in the
build up to the APEC summit meeting and has set up information systems
for news agencies and other clients.
Brunei is currently re-engineering its economy from one largely
dependent on non-renewable energy sources for revenues, such as crude
oil and natural gas, towards technology and the internet.
