Microsoft is expected to announce the victors for its repitched UK
corporate PR and public affairs accounts next week.
The world’s largest software company launched a review of its
relationship with August.One Communications two months ago (PR Week, 23
June). August.One will retain its part of the consumer account, which it
shares with the Red Consultancy.
The corporate PR and public affairs remits, worth roughly pounds 250,000
each, have been to pitch in the last two weeks. LLM Communications, GPC,
Westminster Strategy and August.One are all understood to have pitched
for the lobbying part of the business.
Corporate marketing director, Shaun Orpen is in the process of deciding
on both briefs.
’They have been run as separate pitch processes but one agency could end
up doing both parts of the business,’ PR manager Jacky Crane said.
August.One’s Microsoft work in other world markets is unaffected by the
Microsoft, which is threatened by ongoing legal moves in the US, uses a
further four marketing services companies in the UK: Write Image, Isis,
Mercury and Pattison Mitchell.
