In an article in the Daily Mail this morning, sports columnist Charles Sale reported that Docherty was departing following the club's development of a ‘more American-influenced corporate style of communication policy’.
Arsenal is believed to have employed head-hunters to find a replacement.
Docherty joined the club in 1996 after writing a speculative letter to then comms boss Claire Tomlinson. She took over the top role in 1998.
Docherty could not be reached for comment at the time of publication.
