Hong Kong: Alibaba.com, a business-to-business website backed by
Japan’s Softbank Corporation, has handed its six-figure global corporate
PR account to Gavin Anderson after a three-way pitch.
The account will be run by Gavin Anderson offices in Hong Kong, London,
New York, Tokyo and Singapore and, through an affiliate, in Korea.
Alibaba-com is one of the agency’s first Asian dot.com clients.
’We see potential in dot.coms, but you have to be selective as many of
them won’t be around in 12 months,’ said Aubrey Ho, the Gavin Anderson
director leading the account.
Alibaba.com matches corporate buyers and sellers by providing
information to its 100,000 member organisations through three web sites:
English for international trade, simplified character Chinese for the
domestic Chinese market and traditional character Chinese for overseas
Chinese traders.
