New York: BSMG Worldwide has bought German public relations and
investor relations agency Management Profile Consulting (MPC), making
the new entity the fifth-largest PR firm in Germany.
Under the deal MPC will merge its operations with the BSMG Hamburg
operation, APR/BSMG, to form BSMG Worldwide Germany. Fees for the
combined agencies are expected to top pounds 5 million in 2000, making
it a top five Germany agency with a presence in Hamburg, Munich, Berlin,
Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Bremen.
Janos Goenczol, managing director of MPC, becomes chairman of BSMG
Worldwide Germany, as well as joining the management boards of BSMG
Worldwide and BSMG Europe.
The former chief executive of APR, Wolfgang Raike, will be chief
executive of the new company. The chief operating officer will be Rolf
Tiessen, formerly on the MPC board, while Wolfgang Kreuter, who joined
BSMG late last year from ABC Euro, will head plans to merge the
APR/BSMG’s strengths are in healthcare, brand and consumer marketing,
public affairs and crisis management, while MPC specialises in financial
and corporate PR, new media and issues management. Clients for the new
company will come from both sides, including BMW and Siemens for MPC, as
well as APR’s Olympus, Velux and Germany’s foreign ministry. New
business plans include ambitions for growth in investor relations and
initial public offering work.
The whole BSMG Worldwide business - the world’s seventh largest PR
network - remains a unit of the New York Stock Exchange-listed True
