Sanofi in key comms hire.

Sanofi-Aventis has hired Ian Weatherhead as director of comms. He joins from biopharma firm UCB, where he has held the role of comms and public affairs director UK since 2005. He replaces long-standing comms director Cressida Ward, who moved to the firm's global HQ in Paris to take up the director of comms, CSR role (PRWeek, 14 April).

Dr Foster, the public-private partnership best known for ranking hospitals and NHS trusts, has asked TLG to develop its brand profile and proposition. The team is being led by MD Malcolm Gooderham with new recruit Louise Phillips. She joined TLG last week from the Liberal Democrat press office, where she handled PR for domestic policies on health and education.

NHS Salford's comms manager Paul Thorpe has been promoted to head of comms for University Hospital South Manchester's Research Unit. He took up his new post last week.

Photocure, a Norwegian speciality pharmaceutical firm focused on dermatology and oncology, has called in Capital MS&L to develop an investor relations programme and provide corporate comms support.
