Cook, formerly a board director at Lexis PR, joins from Iskra Communications – a specialist digital consultancy he established in 2009.
He will be responsible for the company’s global public relations and digital communications strategies based out of London.
The brand, which has just marked one year of commercial activity, has established Yota Group offices in London to focus on business strategy, brand marketing, communications and product innovation.
Cook commented: ‘I’m relishing the challenge of driving the comms for the world’s fastest growing wireless broadband internet company. Our brief is clear – to bring to life the benefits of being ‘always connected’ for people across the world, whether they’re in Managua or Minsk. To do that we need to be the best communicators in the business and the team here has the talent, expertise and passion to deliver.’
Cook will report to Dom Bailey, Yota’s recently installed chief marketing officer, and will be working with a roster of PR agencies and Finnish digital agency Activeark to develop Yota’s new global website.
Yota, which currently has more than 500,000 customers in its five networked cities in Russia (Moscow, St Petersburg, Krasnodar, Ufa and Sochi), launched its first network outside of Russia by setting up operations in Nicaragua in July.
