Europe’s largest information technology e-commerce site IT Network
has appointed two IT consultancies, Portfolio Creative Marketing and
Flapjack Communications, to a joint account valued at pounds 250,000 in
The consultancies have been charged with turning IT Network into a
household name, three months after its original launch date.
Flapjack will work on press relations for the new media and consumer
markets, while Portfolio’s remit covers the IT specialist press and the
technology pages of the national press.
IT Network was launched on 28 June and has registered 135,000
It offers users the ability to buy a range of IT products from high end
servers to home computers and notebooks.
It also offers a comparison service so potential buyers can measure one
product against another. A full-time team of 15 journalists tests
equipment and writes reviews.
Brodeur A Plus initially handled PR for IT Network, with a brief to
maintain contacts with journalists as the site was developing. Portfolio
PR director Bill Boyle said it was always planned that Brodeur would
only handle PR until the full launch of the site.
IT Network is a subsidiary of holding company InterX, which also owns IT
distributor Ideal Hardware.
