Since launching 10 years ago, public service data provider Dr Foster has become a key source of information for many policy makers and consumers, with the media focus often on falling on its data regarding the performance of different aspects of the NHS.
Dr Foster's publication of ‘The Good Hospital Guide' created a media storm in November last year after it found up to 12 trusts 'significantly underperforming' on standards such as patient safety and infection control. At the time, a number of under-fire NHS trusts criticised Dr Foster for the way it communicated its findings.
TLG's brief is to generate greater recognition through the media for the company's knowledge and expertise.
TLG founder Malcolm Gooderham said: 'Dr Foster is a dynamic company that has helped to set an agenda that has now become part of the mainstream for consumers and policy makers. In many ways it is a thought leader and we'll work to ensure that this is recognised and becomes a powerful competitive advantage for the brand.'
The team is being led by Gooderham with cosultant Seb Dance, former Labour special adviser, and new recruit Louise Phillips.
She joined TLG this week from the Lib Dem press office where she worked for chief executive Chris Fox and was responsible for handling PR for domestic policies on health and education.
