GCI Focus beats Grandfield to first NTGI PR account

The European arm of the world’s 30th largest investment management firm, Northern Trust Global Investments (NTGI), has hired GCI Focus as its first UK PR agency.

The European arm of the world’s 30th largest investment management

firm, Northern Trust Global Investments (NTGI), has hired GCI Focus as

its first UK PR agency.

The agency, which beat Grandfield to the contract, has been briefed to

raise the profile of NTGI Europe and support its growth plans.

NTGI, which is part of Chicago-based bank the Northern Trust Company,

handles over pounds 161 billion in investment funds globally and just

under pounds 2 billion in Europe.

Its plan is to almost double the total funds it handles, with 10 per

cent coming from Europe, according to vice-president of investment

marketing Daniel Sharp.

GCI Focus deputy chairman Christopher Joll, who will be heading the

account, said: ’We see considerable scope for increasing NTGI’s presence

and the volume of its business in the UK and Europe.’

Joll added that the agency’s first work will be a perception and

awareness audit, which will be carried out this month.

- GCI Group has formed an alliance with the London Communications

Agency, the corporate communications and public affairs firm set up last

month by former London First deputy chief executive Robert Gordon Clark

(PR Week, 13 April).
