years in the job.

He will be replaced by ITN Australia correspondent Libby Wiener on 25

April. He is now taking on an expanded role as special correspondent,

focusing on live reports for the ITV Evening News.

Owen joined ITN’s Channel 4 News in 1984 from the BBC as business and

economics correspondent. He presents ITV’s Sunday news bulletins and

occasionally the weekday lunchtime news. In the past he has anchored for

Channel 4 News and News at Ten.

Wiener is currently based in Sydney. She contributed to ITV’s Countdown

2000 programme on new year’s eve, reporting from Sydney harbour.

Wiener joined ITN in March 1987 as a television journalist, and became

home affairs correspondent in 1988. In 1991 she was ITN’s Europe

correspondent, based in Brussels, and for the 1992 general election she

was seconded to the Liberal Democrats’ campaign.
