LYONS: EuroNews, the pan-European news channel operated by ITN, has

appointed Lydie Bonvallet as its first specialist head of PR.

Bonvallet, 29, joins from music channel MCM International, replacing

Mike Barrett who had joint responsibility for PR and marketing. Barrett

has since joined Germany-based on-line advertising sales network Adlink

as product development manager.

The new PR position handles relations with the French media and

co-ordinates EuroNews’ pan-European PR strategy. Bonvallet reports to

EuroNews marketing director Olivier du Montchenu.

Before Bonvallet’s appointment, Montchenu hired three agencies to handle

key European markets. Edelman PR was appointed in Germany, Milan-based

Noesis Communicazione in Italy and Madrid-based Circulo

Cinco/Fleishman-Hillard in Spain. UK media relations are handled by

ITN’s London press office.

’Next year we aim to expand PR into other European markets,’ said

Bonvallet.

Portugal is expected to be the next market in which a PR agency will be

appointed.
