PPP Healthcare hires Citigate to form PR strategy

PPP Healthcare Trust, the fund-giving charitable body, has brought in Citigate Westminster to manage and advise on PR strategy.

PPP Healthcare Trust, the fund-giving charitable body, has brought

in Citigate Westminster to manage and advise on PR strategy.

PPP Healthcare Trust was set up in 1998 from the funds which were

released from the takeover of the health insurance company PPP by French

insurer AXA. The trust will have pounds 15.9 million of funds to

distribute to individuals and organisations working primarily within the

healthcare field.

According to the trust’s chief executive, David Carrington, Citigate has

been brought in as part of a plan to step up its PR effort over the next

12 months.

Citigate was appointed after a two-way pitch and has been retained on an

ongoing basis. The account will be headed by Citigate Westminster

managing director Adrian Roxan.

Carrington said Citigate would assist in raising the profile of the

Trust as a body which distributed funds, and in the promotion of the

work resulting from the funds it had already given out.

’Our aim is to distribute funds and to reach potential applicants,’

Carrington said.

Other key elements of Citigate’s brief will be to conduct a review of

the trust’s existing PR activity and formulate longer-term PR goals,

although Carrington said the agency’s role was ’likely to evolve’ over

the coming months.

The trust currently has no press office or dedicated in-house

communications function and, although Citigate will not be providing a

full-time press office for the Trust, it will give PR support on

specific projects.
