Top 20 UK agency Harrison Cowley has restructured its board,

appointing specific directors to head its consumer and business

divisions.

To lead the consumer team, associate director Alan Twigg has been

promoted to the board and heads a team of 60 across the agency’s ten

regional offices in the UK and Ireland. Consumer clients include Marks

and Spencer and The National Lottery. Meanwhile, existing director Paul

Kelly’s position has changed from responsiblity for managing three

regional offices, to heading the business-to-business and corporate

portfolios. Business clients include Barclays bank and Elf Oil UK.

The restructure means that the three offices previously under Kelly’s

control now have their own locally-based heads: Amanda Powell Smith for

London, Don Whiting for Bristol and Paula Quigley for Southampton. Also,

Lauretta Tobin has become head of the Birmingham office.

All office heads are associate directors and report to chief executive

David Heal.

’Under the previous structure, the senior management was managing

internal communications but now they will be managing our clients’

communications needs directly,’ said Heal. Twigg is the first person to

join the Harrison Cowley board since its management buyout from Saatchi

and Saatchi in 1994.

In PR Week’s Top 150 consultancies last year, Harrison Cowley was listed

at number 20 with total fees of pounds 4,849,441. Twigg estimates an

increase in fee income of 22 per cent over the past year.

PHarrison Cowley has been reappointed by the UK Atomic Energy Authority

following a statutory four-way review. The agency handles the continuing

PR programme.
