Lotus, the software company and IBM subsidiary, is understood to be

reviewing its six-figure annual public affairs account with the

political division of The Communication Group. The company has retained

TCG since May 1998.

UK communications manager Hamish Kuzminski is believed to be in the

early stages of a review but was unavailable for comment.

The TCG account team is led by Mark Adams, managing director of TCG’s

political division and director Rebecca Tabor. The brief includes

informing Lotus of Government IT changes, and acting as a link between

Lotus and Government departments in need of IT solutions. This is

understood to have contributed to the 10 Downing Street strategic

communications unit’s choice of Lotus Notes as the software for its

Knowledge Network across Whitehall.

Lotus last year merged marketing and communications to form a 12-strong

department under Kuzminski, who reports to UK marketing manager Nancy

Preston. Lotus also retains Noiseworks as its hi-tech PR agency,

although this relationship is not thought to be under review.
